Wen Yibo is a Chinese businessman who has a net worth of $1.5 billion. Wen Yibo is one of the few to have entered the billionaires' club thanks to treating waste water. More precisely, he made his billionaire debut as Chairman of his Hong Kong- and Singapore-listed company Sound Global, which deals with building waste water processing facilities and providing waste water treatment services throughout several major Chinese cities and manufacturing zones. Wen's wealth mostly derives from the performance of Sound Global, where he is also a majority shareholder.
In the first nine months of 2012, Sound Environmental's sales increased by 26% to $208 million; whereas its net profit jumped by 42% to $44 million. Furthermore, the company's revenue rose by 12% to $191 million in the same period. Wen Yibo, who shares his fortune with his wife, is also a part time professor at Langzhou Jiaotong University, where he received a degree in environmental engineering as a student.
